FAQ

What is an MVR?
A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is the driving history on file with a state. Employers, insurers, and drivers use it to confirm license status and recent driving events.
Who can order an MVR?
Employers, insurers, and drivers order MVRs, and every order needs a permissible purpose under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). Employers order one before putting someone on the road, insurers order one for underwriting and claims, and drivers order a copy of their own record.
What consent is needed to order an MVR?
You must be the driver named in the order or have that driver's written authorization to obtain their motor vehicle record. You also certify that you have a permissible purpose under the FCRA and the DPPA. If the record is for employment, you must give the driver a clear written disclosure and obtain their signed authorization before ordering. You accept the consent on the order form by checking a box and typing your name.
How fast will I get the report?
Most orders are completed within 2 hours, 7 days a week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
What does the price include?
The price is the state fee for the licensing state plus a flat $10.00 service fee. You review the total before payment.
What does an MVR report show?
An MVR shows the driving history on file with the licensing state. That includes license status and recent driving events.
Where do your records come from?
Every record comes from TransUnion. ATDSA is a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Which states can I order?
You can order an MVR for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The pricing table on the home page lists the state fee for each one.
