A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is the driving history on file with a state. Employers, insurers, and drivers use it to confirm license status and recent driving events.
Who orders an MVR
- Employers. Hiring and safety teams that need a current driving record before putting someone on the road.
- Drivers. Professionals who want a copy of their own record for a job application or personal file.
- Insurers. Underwriting and claims staff who need a verified history from the licensing state.
Where the record comes from
MVRs Online is owned and operated by ATDSA, a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Every record we deliver comes from TransUnion.
We do not create or control the underlying records. Availability, content, format, and turnaround times vary by state.
How ordering works
- Order and pay. Enter the driver details, accept the required consent, and pay by card on the order page.
- We pull the record. Our staff pull the driving record through TransUnion.
- Report emailed to you. When the record is ready, we email the file to the address on your order. Most orders are completed within 2 hours, 7 days a week from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
What it costs
Every order is the state MVR fee plus a flat $10.00 service fee. You can order a record from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The pricing table shows the state fee and the total for each one.
Before you order
Access to motor vehicle records is restricted by the federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) and state law. When you order, you certify that you are the driver named in the order or have that driver's written authorization, and that you have a permissible purpose for the record. If the record is for employment, the FCRA requires that you give the driver a clear written disclosure and obtain their signed authorization before ordering. The full wording is in our Terms of Service.
Please confirm the driver's name, license number, state, and date of birth before you submit. All orders are final, as described in our Refund Policy.
